Really enjoyed your post, Drew. I was at Flash Bus in Denver last year and at the end, stood up and asked Joe and David if they ever shot film anymore. I was saddened by the response. Not just a no, but an emphatic dismissal of the mere thought. Your post offsets that just a bit. I mix n' match film and digital all the time. I think balancing diversity and cohesiveness is a delicate act that your style will largely accomplish - no matter the medium. In the words of the great Robert Adams, "the job of the photographer isn't to record indisputable fact but to try to be coherent about intuition and hope." Keep those frames moving through the gate on that Leica. Best Regards, John Crane.

Back to thé roots. Slide or neg films are great . But thé cost of thé films and thé processing is a problem.
BUT to take just and only Pictures is à great reward. A camera just for pictures not for both pictures and video
Is à dream. We CAN travel lighter, when I look back to thé equipment I took for 3 months i am amazed. Nô electrical
Cords and so on. Look forward to read your blog about films
Best regards

Mmmmmmm film. Love the images & enthusiasm :) I'd have to say that the camera & film are tools and you shouldn't have to separate your images based on the tools you use. Most in the field can distinguish analog from digital photography and I think it'd be more interesting to combine them on a website or in a portfolio. The overall look might be a little different, but your content and shooting style will be relevant!

Dustin! Great to hear from you, and hope all's well out your way. Thanks for the input, and yes, I think you're absolutely right. It's gonna be fun meshing it all together.

Let's catch up soon.

Well said Marc, and I absolutely agree with the thought process you mention in shooting film vs. digital...there is something alluring about handling a simple, vintage camera. Even if it's somewhat unknown as to what we've shot for some time afterwards, it's worth the build-up. It is expensive, but if for NO other reason, it does allow more time behind a camera, and less sitting at a desk. That alone would make it worthwhile.

Keep in touch, and thanks for the comment!

Put 'em up wherever they fit unless and until you feel like your film work becomes its own conceptual body of work.
